The Palau dels Arts Reina Sofia will share with 60 citizens for the muntatge of 'The Magic Flute', by Mozart, co-produced with the Macerata Festival (Italy), which will inaugurate the season of subscription on next December 1 in the Main Hall.

With the need for prior experience and with the only requirement of having an age between 18 and 110 years, the Arts open the door to sharing applause with the protagonist of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's most popular opera, the works of which begin next November 2.

Graham Vick, stage director, intends to involve “ciutadans del món” in this production that will provoke great debate in its debut in Italy this past year in defense of coexistence and against the abuse of established powers in the context of the current immigration crisis.

In the outdoor setting of Macerata, more than 100 residents of different ages, sexes and ethnicities will join the project as collective characters. With Vick's directives, the participants will constitute a “citizen camp” that, at the turn of the scene, exercises a disturbing element - in the manner of Aristophanes' cor grec -, leading to the action and behavior of the protagonists.

The English director reproduced in this show the line of work that he has developed since 1987 at the Birmingham Opera, of which he is the founder. Conegut by his defense of the social function of the opera, Vick has turned the company into a reference for his actions for the integration and involvement of the multicultural community of the British metropolis.

In this sense, the mate Graham Vick declared, during the 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society awards, that only music can unite a fractured world, because it is heritage of humanity. “We are singing històries throughout the time that we exist,” he will explain and “the democratic meravella of the opera is that all of us share the material, it is of us,” he will affirm.
