The Valencian Community Orchestra pays homage to Matilde Salvador and Claude Debussy

The Valencian Community Orchestra pays homage to Matilde Salvador and Claude Debussy with the concert “Homenatges”, conducted by Jordi Bernàcer on October 4 at the Auditori, during the preseason of the Palau de les Arts.

The program, as Mestre Alcoià explains, is the backbone of three essential figures: the composer and painter from Castellón, in the centenary of her birth, the French Impressionist, of whom 100 years of her death are commemorated (two days after her birth in Salvador), and Manuel de Falla, whose work the author of 'The king Barbut's filla'.

From Matilde Salvador, Bernàcer proposes a selection of songs with an important part of her work, focused on music for piano and orchestra, both in Valencia and in Castilian: 'The nightingale and the rose', 'Presentimiento' (on text by Carmen Conde), 'Canción de vela'; 'Valenciana' (on text by Lope de Vega), 'Cançó de recança' and 'Cançó Alegre', these dues últimes orchestrated by Vicente Asencio, Marit de Salvador.

The Valencian soprano Carmen Romeu poses for this tribute to the composer from Castellón, who knew at that time the legacy of the public of the Arts after her seus works in 'La bohème', by Puccini, and 'Idomeneo', by Mozart.

It will follow 'Homenajes', by Manuel de Falla, a figure of great influence in the musical production of Salvador. The geni gadità gathers in this 'suite' fish previously written and of which each of the movements constitutes a tribute to different musicians: Enrique Fernández Arbós, Claude Debussy, Paul Dukas and Felipe Pedrell.

Jordi Bernàcer and the OCV closed the concert with 'La mer', by Debussy, the first composition by the French Impressionist that will be performed by the main line-up of Arts under the baton of Lorin Maazel and also one of the works with which the OCV will last during the first international performance at the La Fenice Theater in Venice.

The Palau de les Arts remembers that the “Homenatges” concert is part of the musical offering of the preseason with popular performances. The venues for this show range between 10 and 20 euros.
