The Palau de les Arts begins general sales of tickets and non-renewable passes for the 2019-2020 season this Thursday, September 19, starting at 6:00 p.m. on the website www.lesarts.com .
Starting on Friday the 20th, the arts center will also enable the rest of the marketing channels, both the telephone sales line 961 975 900 and the theater's own box offices.
The main new feature of the season's non-renewable subscription program is that it organizes the various offerings into content blocks to meet the needs of interested parties: Lied i Grans Veus, Formació-Centre Plácido Domingo, Concerts, Dansa, in addition to passes dedicated to Flamenco and Other Music performances. Discounts under this format range from 10% to 35% of the ticket price, depending on the recipient.
The new season represents a 30% increase in Les Arts' activities aimed at the public with an ambitious program that includes 47 opera and zarzuela performances, 19 dance performances, 6 'Lied' recitals, 8 concerts, 4 flamenco evenings and two sessions dedicated to other music.
Under the heading 'Les Arts és òpera', the new season includes nine titles that embrace a wide repertoire, with an incursion into the Baroque ('Ariodante'), three works belonging to the classical era ('Le nozze di Figaro' and 'La finta giardiniera', by Mozart, and 'Il tutore burlato', by Martín y Soler), a bel canto title ('Il viaggio a Reims', by Rossini), a work by Verdi ('Nabucco'), one belonging to French Romanticism ('Faust', by Gounod) and two operas from the 20th century ('Elektra', by Strauss, and 'Les mamelles de Tirésias').
Openness to new aesthetics is one of the main slogans, with the debut of directors who are distinguished by their career and by the modernity they bring to their productions, such as Robert Carsen ('Elektra'), Richard Jones ('Ariodante') or Keith Warner ('Faust'), in addition to the return of Damiano Michieletto ('Il viaggio a Reims').
In the pit, the public will be able to enjoy a roster of musical directors, specialists in the repertoire they will be tackling: Andrea Marcon, the Baroque; Christopher Moulds or William Christie, the Classical; Marc Albrecht, the music of Strauss; Francesco Lanzilotta, the Rossini repertoire; and Michel Plasson, the French Romantic repertoire.
The Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana will participate in the 'Les Arts és simfònic' series, featuring some of the most prestigious conductors on the circuit, who are either making their debut or returning to the Valencian opera house. James Gaffigan, Michele Mariotti, Gustavo Gimeno, Juanjo Mena, Ivor Bolton, and Daniele Gatti will each present a variety of programs, four of which will include the participation of the Cor de la Generalitat (Choir of the Generalitat).
With 'Les Arts és Lied', a new programming line is opened, a cycle of 'Lied', which represents the debut of some of the most acclaimed voices on the international scene: the tenor Piotr Beczača, the countertenor Philippe Jaroussky, the baritone Simon Keenlyside or the soprano Ainhoa Arteta, along with the return of Violeta Urmana.
For her part, Joyce DiDonato will be the star of another unprecedented proposal, 'Les Arts és Grans Veus', in which the 'mezzo-soprano' offers a select baroque program, a style that has elevated her to the Olympus of lyricism, accompanied by the Il Pomo d'Oro orchestra and the rising director Maxim Emelyanychev.
The program also pays special attention to ballet in the 'Les Arts és Dansa' section, which brings together three renowned groups: the National Dance Company, María Pagés Company, and Ananda Dansa. The Main Hall and the Teatre Martín i Soler will host the various performances, ranging from flamenco to contemporary dance.
Flamenco and Other Music
Likewise, the arts center also continues to sell titles at affordable prices, including Mozart's opera 'Le nozze di Figaro' and Sorozábal's zarzuela 'La tabernera del puerto', in addition to the shows that make up 'Les Arts és Flamenco' and 'Les Arts és Altres Músiques'.
