Piotr Beczańa inaugurates the first cycle that Les Arts dedicates to the ‘Lied’

17.10.2019

Tenor Piotr Beczača will inaugurate this Sunday, October 20, at 6:00 p.m., the first cycle that the Palau de les Arts dedicates to 'lied', in which some of the most prestigious voices in the lyric scene will participate.

The performance also marks the debut at Les Arts of the highly sought-after performer, known to the general public for his brilliant operatic career, especially for his roles in titles by Verdi, Puccini and the French repertoire, which he combines with successful performances in the world's leading concert halls.

Accompanied on the piano by Sarah Tysman, Beczańa offers a varied program to enjoy the flexibility and expressiveness of his interpretations, with songs by Bixio, De Curtis, Dvořák, Karřowicz, Leoncavallo and Rachmaninoff, as well as arias from operas by Bizet, Massenet and Verdi.

The Main Hall is the setting for the 'Les Arts és Lied' cycle where, in addition to Piotr Beczača, stars such as the mezzo-soprano Violeta Urmana (November 17), the countertenor Philippe Jaroussky (January 12), the baritone Simon Keenlyside (February 1) and the soprano Ainhoa Arteta (March 15) will perform.

Les Arts announces that ticket prices for each recital in the 'Les Arts és Lied' series range from 20 to 40 euros. Those interested in the entire series can purchase the Passe Lied-Grans Veus, which, starting at 117 euros, includes all five performances, as well as Joyce DiDonato's concert with the Il Pomo d'Oro orchestra, dedicated entirely to Baroque repertoire.

The Palau de les Arts has also put 50 season tickets for the lieder cycle on sale for 50 euros for holders of the Carnet Jove (Youth Card) from the Institut Valencià de la Joventut (IVAJ). The Passe 5 Liedx50 offers younger audiences a full series of seats for 50 euros in the best-viewed area of the Main Hall, which works out to 10 euros per recital.
