The Palau de les Arts is presented in the German repertoire with 'Elektra', by Richard Strauss, an essential work in the programming of international opera theatres, which brings together in Valencia the leading figures of the international opera scene.

Marc Albrecht, on the podium, and Robert Carsen, on stage, make their debut in the Arts with this title, with a demanding score and complex drama that will be released on the 18th of June.

The German orchestra director and the Canadian creator face the last sets of visits to Valencia, with the theater's stable groups, the Choir of the Generalitat and the Valencian Community Orchestra, together with a distribution of recognized performers.

Swedish soprano Iréne Theorin (Elektra), critically acclaimed in this paper, stars as the trio of protagonists performing Strauss' irresistible psychodrama, alongside veteran German mezzo-soprano Doris Soffel with Klytämnestra and emerging American soprano Sara Jakubiak in the role of Chrysothemis.

With Hugo von Hofmannsthal's book, based on the eponymous tragedy by Sophocles, 'Elektra' is considered one of the most difficult scores for both the orchestra and the orchestra, which, at the time, became the most widely used for an opera.

Marc Albrecht, expert conductor in the work of Strauss and Wagner and recent winner at the Opera Awards 2019 in the category of best musical director, recovers with the OCV a repertoire in which the titular formation of the Arts has awarded the highest levels of excellence with titles such as 'The Ring of the Nibelungen', 'Parsifal' or 'Salome'.

For his band, Robert Carsen, presents to the Valencian public a production by the Opéra National de Paris, based on an original co-production by the Teatre del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Tokyo Opera Nomori, with scenery by Michael Levine, costumes by Vazul Matusz, lighting by Peter van Praet and choreography by Philippe Giraudeau.

Recognized by his great theatrical talent and by the refined aesthetics of his muntats, Carsen proposes an exciting vision of Elektra, of great expressive force and profound symbolism.

Elektra's premiere will be released on June 18. Les Arts has programmed three four performances of Richard Strauss' opera on the 21st, 24th, 27th, and 30th of June.
