Rocío Márquez debuts in the Arts with songs from her latest album 'Seen on El Jueves'

18.02.2020

Rocío Márquez will sing songs from her latest album 'Seen on El Jueves' in her debut at the Palau de les Arts on February 22 at 9:00 p.m. at the Teatre Martín i Soler.

The 'cantaora', acclaimed by the press with the vision of the new generation of 'cante jondo', stars in the second session of 'Les Arts és Flamenco', the first cycle that the center d'arts dedicates to this genre, and which will inaugurate the revived concert of Diego el Cigala, in all the sold-out locations in December passat.

In 'Seen on El Jueves', the Huelva interpreter shows off her restless personality and enormous curiosity with a repertoire in which the gap between those who are flamenc and those who are not flamenc, the 'cante' and the song, remains blurred, with songs covered by great artists, accompanied by flamenco songs recreats.

Cançons de Bambino, Rocío Jurado, Paco Ibáñez, Concha Piquer, El Cabrero, Turronero, Pepe Marchena, José Menese and Manuel Vallejo are created and intermingled with serranes, 'abandolaos', fandangos, malaguenyes, rondenyes, peteneres, buleries, marianes, romanços and rumbes in the cinqué treball album by the artist Rocío Márquez.

After dispensing with the guitar in her two previous projects ('Firmamento' and 'Dialogues of old and new sones'), Rocío Márquez returns to Canito's angular flamenc instrument. Between the two, and matched by the percussions of Agustín Diassera, they assume the first step of the various expressive possibilities of the parameters of naturalness and musical simplicity and transit through a constant experimentation of arrangements and melodies.

Tickets for Rocío Márquez's performance, along with the rest of the concerts in this cycle, have a single price of 30 euros.

' Les Arts és Flamenco'

In the search for our publics and disciplines, Les Arts has presented in Marx, the cycle 'Les Arts és Flamenco' for the 2019-2020 season. Last December, Diego el Cigala will inaugurate the first monograph of the Valencian opera house dedicated to this genre in all the locations sold to the Auditori.

Rocío Márquez will be in charge of opening this series of concerts at the Teatre Martín i Soler, on the stage of which they will also pass in the next months due to the relevant figures in 'cante jondo': Duquende and Manuel Lombo.

Juan Cortés, Duquende, will perform at Les Arts next March 13 accompanied by the guitar of Diego del Morao and the palms, corses and compàs of Los Mellis. Discovered by Camarón de la Isla who had només huit anys and hereu of the tradition of the mythical genius of flamenc, the 'cantaor' from Sabadell is one of the most respected figures for the honesty and profound sentiment of his interpretations.

For his band, on April 25, Manuel Lombo will visit the Teatre Martín i Soler with his new project 'P'alante y p'atrás', together with Macarena López and Sara Jiménez. The artist of Dos Hermanas has established himself as one of the names that has introduced saba nova in 'cante jondo' thanks to his various interpretations and compositions coming from pop or 'jazz', without renouncing tradition.
