  • Stefano Montanari directs a cast including Anett Fritsch, Anicio Zorzi Giustiniani, Davide Luciano, Nahuel Di Pierro and Marina Monzó, among other artists.
  • Given the evolving health situation, Les Arts is postponing Romeo Castellucci's complex production of Mozart's 'Requiem' until next season.

Valencia (31.8.20). The Palau de les Arts will inaugurate the 2020-2021 season with a version of Mozart's 'Così fan tutte', adapted to the requirements of the current health situation.

This opera will replace in the schedule the performances of Romeo Castellucci's stunning stage recreation of Mozart's 'Requiem' that had been announced as the opening title.

Given the evolution of the COVID-19 situation in recent weeks, Les Arts considers it appropriate to postpone, due to its scenic complexity, the acclaimed production by the Italian playwright and visual artist.

The co-production by Les Arts with Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Adelaide Festival, Theatre Basel, Wiener Festwochen and La Monnaie will premiere within the 2021-2022 season.

In order to ensure the safety of artists and the public, a version of 'Così fan tutte' will be offered with an approximate duration of 2 hours and 15 minutes without a break.

The violinist and conductor Stefano Montanari, a highly regarded figure in the baroque and classical repertoires, will conduct this opera, which concludes the so-called Mozart-Da Ponte trilogy.

Les Arts thus continues its commitment to the repertoire of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which it already inaugurated last season with 'Le nozze di Figaro', the first of the titles in the trilogy, which arises as a result of the collaboration of the Salzburg composer with the successful librettist from Treviso, Lorenzo Da Ponte.

Silvia Costa, a close collaborator of Romeo Castellucci, is responsible for the conception of this semi-staged proposal, which will be created 'ad hoc' for its performances at Les Arts, and which features lighting by Marco Giusti.

The cast includes renowned Mozartian interpreters. Anett Fritsch, Anicio Zorzi Giustiniani, Davide Luciano, Nahuel Di Pierro, among others, bring to life the intrigues of this celebrated 'dramma giocoso', which will also mark the operatic debut at Les Arts of Valencian singer Marina Monzó in the role of Despina.

In the coming days, Les Arts will contact its subscribers to inform them of the different options available in light of this change in the program.
