Valencia (02/16/21). Daniele Rustioni will direct the performances of Verdi's 'Falstaff', which the Palau de les Arts has scheduled on March 2, 7, 11 and 14.
Rustioni is one of the most promising young directors on the opera circuit. Awarded at the 2013 Opera Awards as a breakthrough artist, he has worked in the most respected theaters, such as the Bavarian Opera, the Scala de Milà, the Covent Garden in London, the Bastille in Paris, the Metropolitan in New York or the operas in Zurich and Stuttgart.
The ascendant Milanese director is retiring from the pit to the New York native James Gaffigan who, due to scheduling issues, has not been able to attend the new period of performances of this opera, which will have to be scheduled for the month of Gener Passat for sanitary reasons.
Rustioni will begin the week with his work with the cast and the stable groups of the Arts: the Cor de la Generalitat and the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, which he directs for the first time in his career. In this sense, the Arts informs that it maintains the main interpreters that are going to announce for this title.
Ambrogio Maestri will pose once again in the film of Sir John Falstaff, a reference role in his resume. The Italian baritone stands out as the great interpreter of the new generation of the 'bon vivant' that Shakespeare will portray and who has incarnated at La Scala, the Salzburg Festival, the Metropolitan and the Paris Opera, as well as in cities such as Zurich, Munich and Tòquio.
Ainhoa Arteta will finally make her operatic debut in the Arts with Alice Ford. The Gipuzkoan soprano will perform before the Valencian public one of the roles that has been most successful on the international stage, in theaters such as the San Francisco Opera or London's Covent Garden.
Also returning to this new cycle of performances is Violeta Urmana, one of the favorite artists of the Arts audience pels seus treballs in 'Parsifal', 'Iphigénie en Tauride', 'Medea' or 'Don Carlo'. The Lithuanian star presents a new foray into her mezzo-soprano repertoire with an unprecedented role in her long career, Mrs. Quickly.
The Italian baritone Davide Luciano, who is recently going to debut in Valencia with 'Così fan tutte', gives life to Mr. Ford. Recognized by his seues incursions into classicist and bel canto opera, he has revealed himself with some of his new values in the seua tessitura with trips to New York, Milan, Berlin or Moscow. Davide Luciano replaces Mattia Olivieri, who for artistic reasons will not be able to be in Valencia for the new dates.
Contrasting performers complete the cast of the production, including Sara Blanch (Nanetta), Chiara Amarù (Mrs. Meg Page), Juan Francisco Gatell (Fenton), Jorge Rodríguez-Norton (Dr. Cajus), Antonio Di Matteo (Pistola) and the Center de Perfection singer Joel Williams (Bardolfo).
Les Arts will present Verdi's twilight comedy in the main production of the Berlin Staatsoper that will present the passat mes de gener, with stage direction by Mario Martone, with scenery by Margherita Palli, costumes by Ursula Patzak, lighting by Pasquale Mari and choreography by Raffaella Giordano and Anna Redi.
Martone's proposal translates the action to the present, in a large metropolis, with its graffiti, dubious reputation clubs and anachronistic personalities. Sir John Falstaff became a rebel spirit, loyal to the leather jacket of his old whiskers, who spent the time in a kind of community center accompanied by turbulent characters.
