The Arts replies 268 applications from artists from 45 countries to enter the Center de Perfectionament

  • It is from the course with the name of the largest candidatures from the inn in Marx of the Opera Studio de les Arts in 2009
  • Starting in September, soprano María Bayo joins as an assessor for the musical and vocal preparation of repertoire singers and pianists

Valencia (03/23/21). The Palau de les Arts has received 268 candidates from 45 different nationalities to participate in the selection process for the new promotion of the Center de Perfection.

The next course of the Opera Studio de les Arts, which will begin in September, has registered the greatest demand since the founding of the project in 2009. Spanish and Mexican artists (35) have captured the largest number of requests, followed on behalf of registrations by young performers from Russia (21) and els Stats Units (18).

The international interest in the project for any academic year 2021-2022 has also been confirmed by the increasing number of institutions of professionals from Asian countries such as Japan (5), South Korea (5) and the Philippines (1).

“The excellence of the training and activities of the Arts are two conclusions that can be drawn from the projects,” according to Jesús Iglesias Noriega, artistic director of the Arts and head of the Center for Perfection, which faces these in the last phases of the selection process.

"Of a band, a key factor is the level of studies and the professional career that allows the artists who are trained in the Arts to develop. But, moreover, there is an incontestable fet. In these times of pandemic, in the majority of tancat theaters, the Arts has offered, since June 2020, uninterrupted artistic activity, in which the participation of the artists of the Center de Perfectionament has remained fundamental.”

In this sense, Iglesias Noriega has pointed out that the audition process has also been adapted “to the strict health protocols” of the theater. After a preselection of the video recordings, this week there will be two rounds of in-person auditions except for the selected artists who cannot leave their country due to restrictions due to the coronavirus.

Centre de Perfeccionament

The artists will be part of the Center de Perfection of the Palau de les Arts during the two seasons following the auditions (seasons 2021-2022 and 2022-2023), as long as the assessment that the management has of the singer's evolution at the end of the first season remains positive.

The training at the Center de Perfectionament includes subjects such as Vocal Technique, Musical and Stage Interpretation, Languages Applied to Singing, Alexander Technique and Psychology. In addition, master classes will be given by artists of international prestige.

Singers and pianists present performances by qualified teachers, stage directors, singers and other artists and professionals who participate in the productions and events of the current season of the Palau de les Arts. However, they must participate obligatorily in the artistic and educational activities of the Opera Studio de les Arts and may even be included in the productions and projects of the season.

María Bayo, new musical advisor

The Center for the Perfection of Arts will, starting in September, work with the prestigious soprano María Bayo as the person responsible for the control, supervision and development of the musical preparation of this project of 'Les Arts és Formació'.

The Navarrese singer will assume the tasks of assessment and continuous monitoring of the evolution of the artists of the Center de Perfectionament, both in the technical aspect and in the interpretation, and will be responsible for offering, in this way, the necessaries so that the participants of the courses can obtain a high level artistic development.
