Valencia (4.3.25). The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía delves into the most Italian repertoire of Georg Friedrich Händel with 'Clori, Tirsi e Fileno' by the ensemble Los Elementos, at the Teatre Martín i Soler on Thursday, March 6, at 7.30 p.m.
The performance is part of the 'Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga' series, produced in co-production with the National Center for Musical Diffusion, which is in its fourth edition this season.
Alberto Miguélez Rouco, resident artist of the CNDM and one of the most emerging names in the early music scene in our country, presents with this pastoral serenade his group specializing in the interpretation of Spanish vocal and instrumental music of the 18th century with period instruments.
The countertenor from A Coruña returns to the Valencian opera house after his celebrated solo performances with leading figures in this repertoire: 'Partenope' with William Christie and 'L'incoronazione di Poppea' with Leonardo García-Alarcón.
On this occasion, Miguélez Rouco directs and sings the role of Fileno in this serenade, dated 1707, in which the sopranos Ana Vieira Leite (Clori) and Alicia Amo (Tirsi) also participate.
'Clori, Tirsi e Fileno' tells the story of a shepherdess in love with two men, whom she ultimately loses when their infidelity is discovered. The work could be considered a miniature opera, as it possesses true refinement and lightness, and features musical elements that make it a genuine gem.
The score, corresponding to the period of the young Handel in Italy, would later be an important source of arias for some of his most famous works such as 'Acis and Galatea', 'Agrippina' and 'Rinaldo'.
