Valencia (05/25/21). The Les Arts Volant truck begins its fifth tour in Agullent on June 19 in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Valencia to bring open-air opera to the municipalities of the province.

The stage truck built by Les Arts will once again bring the opera 'El tutor burlat', by the Valencian composer Vicente Martín i Soler, as a traveling show, after the success of Jaume Policarpo's 'fresh and colorful' production in its different performances around the territory last year.

The Teatre Martín i Soler hosted today the presentation of the new tour of the 'opera on wheels', with the presence of the deputy of Culture of the Diputación de València, Xavier Rius; the councilor of Culture of the City Council of València, Glòria Tello, and the artistic director of Les Arts, Jesús Iglesias Noriega.

Les Arts Volant is a cultural outreach project promoted by Les Arts, in collaboration with the Valencia Provincial Council and the Valencia City Council, which was launched in 2017 and, to date, has allowed more than 50,000 spectators to enjoy an opera performance from the nearest square.

In this edition, a total of 13 municipalities will receive a visit from the artists of the Centre de Perfeccionament de Les Arts, who will perform on this mobile stage the first opera written by Vicente Martín i Soler.

The aim is to bring opera to every corner of the territory, especially to those places with little musical activity or where it would be difficult to carry out a performance due to a lack of the necessary technical means or facilities.

From Vallés, with 154 inhabitants, to Alboraya, with 24,741, the Les Arts Volant truck will make it possible for many citizens to have their first experience with opera under the same technical and scenic conditions as would be developed in any opera house.

The schedule of provincial performances is as follows: Agullent Saturday, June 19, 10:00 PM ; Elda Sunday, June 20, 10:00 PM ; Benimodo Wednesday, June 23, 9:30 PM; Sant Mateu Thursday, June 24, 9:30 PM; El Puig Saturday, June 26, 10:00 PM; Daimús Sunday, June 27, 10:00 PM ; Higueruelas Wednesday, June 30, 9:30 PM ; Marines Thursday, July 1, 9:30 PM ; Bocairent Saturday, July 3, 10:00 PM; Vallés Sunday, July 4, 10:00 PM; Alfafar Wednesday, July 7, 9:30 PM; Palau de Les Arts Friday July 9 · 10:00 p.m. Palau de Les Arts Saturday, July 10 · 10:00 p.m. El Pinós Wednesday, July 14 · 9:30 p.m. Alboraia Thursday, July 15 · 9:30 p.m. Algar de Palancia Saturday, July 17 · 10:00 p.m. La Font d'en Carròs Sunday, July 18 · 10:00 p.m. Alcoi Wednesday, July 21 · 9:30 p.m. Sumacàrcer Thursday, July 22 · 9:30 p.m. Navarrés Saturday, July 24 · 10:00 p.m. Peníscola Sunday, July 25 · 10:00 p.m.

According to the Deputy for Culture, Xavier Rius, “after five editions, I believe that the unprecedented experience of Les Arts Volant has established itself as a benchmark for Valencian creativity. Together with Les Arts, we have created a high-quality and well-received cultural product, and we are very pleased to be able to bring it to our regions year after year.”

The Councillor for Heritage and Cultural Resources of the City Council of Valencia, Glòria Tello, has highlighted that “we are once again inviting the citizens of Valencia to a high-level performance to further the democratization of culture by bringing such a stimulating proposal as opera to the neighborhoods.”

The artistic director of Les Arts, Jesús Iglesias Noriega, has emphasized the importance of the project, not only for opening opera to new audiences, but also for the important educational value of Les Arts Volant with the choice of 'El tutor burlat'.

“Vicente Martín i Soler, the most internationally renowned Valencian composer of all time, who rivaled Mozart himself in popularity in imperial Vienna, is still largely unknown to the vast majority of citizens,” the artistic director noted.

“And there is no better educational tool than the artistic experience, capable of awakening the most diverse feelings in the viewer and linking them with what they are discovering.

The audience at Les Arts Volant not only discovers opera when they attend a performance, but also reconnects with their musical heritage, restoring Martín i Soler to his rightful place in history.”

The tutor mocks

In 'El tutor burlat', Jaume Policarpo presents a staging with an aesthetic inspired by 19th-century romantic postcards, featuring pastel colors. The contrasting element is provided by the costumes, designed by José María Adame, which combine more intense colors with contemporary elements, highlighted by Antonio Castro's lighting.

The cast of 'El tutor burlat' includes artists from the Centre de Perfeccionament: Aida Gimeno (Violante), Larisa Stefan (Dona Menica), Oleh Lebedyev (Fabrizio), Omar Lara (Pippo), and Jorge Franco (Don Lelio), along with Valencian singer Gonzalo Manglano (Anselmo). José Jaime Hidalgo and Carlos Sanchis will provide piano accompaniment during the performances.
