Valencia (16.11.21). The Palau de les Arts and the National Center for Musical Diffusion (CNDM) co-produce the cycle 'Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga', which will take place at the Teatre Martín i Soler from November 24 to December 3.
The artistic director of the Arts, Jesús Iglesias Noriega, and the director of the CNDM, Francisco Lorenzo, have presented at a press conference the first foray of the Valencian opera house into this repertoire of the most important Spanish formations: Harmonia del Parnàs, Capella de Ministrers, Accademia del Piacere and La Galanía.
Iglesias Noriega has qualified the initiative as “an ambitious commitment to Spanish musical heritage in the spirit of the Baroque, with a prior look at the styles and aesthetics on which the following foundations are to be founded: Edat Mitjana and Renaixement”.
In this sense, the artistic director of the Arts has also underlined, “the vindication of the musical excellence of the Valencian Community, with the expected debuts in the programming of the Arts of Harmony of Parnàs and Capella de Ministrers”.
For his band, Francisco Lorenzo, has highlighted this co-production of the CNDM, the first major collaboration between the Arts, among the foundational committees of the autonomous organization of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, among which is the specific support for the recovery, appreciation and dissemination of historical music “through the maximum artistic excellence”.
Harmonia del Parnàs stars in the first concert of the cycle on November 24, with a program that focuses mainly on a prolific Valencian composer, Pascual Fuentes, who would be during the last eleven years of his life master of cappella at the Cathedral of Valencia and instructor in the art of Vicente Martín i Soler.
The group directed by Marian Rosa Montagut, together with the sopranos Roberta Invernizzi and Olalla Alemán, celebrated the 300th anniversary of the birth of the master of Aldaia with the performance of an interesting selection of his works and the modern premiere of 'La barbara cruel furia'.
For its part, Capella de Ministrers performs its first intervention in the Arts season on November 26. Since he began his journey 35 years ago, the group led by Carles Magraner is recognized and recognized by the ongoing work of musicological research, aimed at rescuing and disseminating the Spanish musical heritage since the Mitjana era at the end of the 19th century.
For his first concert in the Calatrava building, Magraner has outlined a program around music at the time of Alfonso X el Savi on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the birth of the monarch. The performance of soprano Èlia Casanova, accompanied by Capella de Ministrers, will guide the viewer through emotional songs of praise to the Mare de Déu from the most important collections of medieval music.
On December 1, for the same band, the Teatre Martín i Soler presents another new group on the Arts stages: the Sevillian Accademia del Piacere, led by the Syrian-Palestinian gambist Fahmi Alqhai, the recent winners of the prestigious German Opus Klassik award.
The soprano Núria Rial addresses with the Andalusian group a selection of stage works by the great composer of the Spanish Baroque Sebastián Durón. The program is completed by pages of Durón's co-authors, such as Giovanni Bononcini, who will influence the Italian airs of his music.
With the performance of the Navarrese soprano Raquel Andueza and her group La Galanía concluded the first edition of 'Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga'. The group, specialized in the interpretation of baroque music with historicist criteria, is the home of renowned orchestral music dedicated to the music of the 17th and 18th centuries, such as Hespèrion XXI, Al Ayre Espanyol, Age of the Enlightment or L'Arpeggiata.
The song proposed by the Martín i Soler Theater, 'Of Follies and Torments', delves into European music with original texts in Spanish, which rescue songs from Anglophone, French and Italian collections. Among these amorous, carefree melodies, intermingle works by Italian authors of the first Baroque period, among them Monteverdi and Ferrari, along with the most beautiful opera series by Antonio Cesti, a prominent composer of the Venetian school.
Les Arts reminds us that the venues for each of the concerts of 'Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga' have a single price of 10 euros.
