Valencia (20.1.21). The Palau de les Arts premieres this day, June 23, 'Les contes d'Hoffmann', by Jacques Offenbach, with musical direction by Marc Minkowski and stage performance by Johannes Erath.

The artistic director of Les Arts, Jesús Iglesias Noriega, has presented hui, ahead of the communication mitjans, this title, “essential in the great opera theaters, but facing unprecedented by the public of Les Arts”, together with Marc Minkowski and Johannes Erath.

Iglesias Noriega has highlighted the choice of Offenbach's lyrical fantasy to open the 2022 program in order to offer the Valencian public the essential works of the opera repertoire. A line that will continue under titles such as 'Wozzeck' by Berg, Bernstein's first work at Les Arts or the turn of the baroque to the Main Hall with 'Ariodante'.

After his applauded debut at Les Musiciens du Louvre in 2020 with 'Mitridate', by Mozart, Marc Minkowski is appointed leader of the stable performances of the Valencian opera, the Choir of the Generalitat and the Valencian Community Orchestra, to conduct “the very complete version that the mateix will prepare in 2012 with “their own orchestra”.

The consecrated interpreter of Offenbach will offer a version based on the critical edition of the music legends Michael Kaye and Jean-Christophe Keck, the main concern of which has been to recreate in the most faithful way possible the original conditions in which the opera will be composed.

Les Arts reunites, for this occasion, great figures of international opera, who will sing for the first time in Valencian opera, with the North American tenor John Osborn in the main role. Acclaimed as one of the most relevant performers of the new generation, the tenor from Iowa is featured in the film of the poet ETA Hoffmann, considered one of his six most celebrated papers in his prolific career.

The South African soprano Pretty Yende addresses Les Arts one of the most important artistic roles in her unstoppable international career: interpreting the four heroines of Offenbach's work: Olympia, Antonia, Giulietta and Stella.

The Italian bass baritone Alex Esposito, renowned interpreter of the works of Mozart and Rossini, plays the three protagonists with the incarnation of the four demonic personalities, Lindorf, Coppélius, Miracle and Dapertutto, who act as the writer's antagonists.

The distribution of the production is complete between Paula Murrihy, Eva Kroon, Moisés Marín, Tomislav Lavoie, Isaac Galán, Marcel Beekman, Roger Padullés and Tomeu Bibiloni.

Johannes Erath is the stage director of this production by the Semperoper Dresden, with scenery by Heike Scheele, costumes by Gesine Völl, lighting by Fabio Antoci, video by Alexander Scherpink and drama by Anne Gerber.

The reconegut 'regista' germany proposes a muntatge with Hoffmann as the only real person, who recreates the real and dreamlike experiences that the poet experiences. Applaud the premiere in Dresden and Hèlsinki, critics and audiences have highlighted the German director's powerful theatrical performance, abundant in visually creative moments that stimulate the viewer's imagination.

The first performance of 'Les contes d'Hoffmann' will take place on the 23rd of January (6:00 p.m.). Les Arts reminds that the rest of the performances, scheduled for December 26, December 28 and December 31, will begin at 7:00 p.m.
