Valencia (03.05.22). 'Les Arts és Simfònic' faces the final stretch of the season with the penultimate lyrical-symphonic concert, by James Gaffigan, who will conduct the Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana in a program with works by Rodrigo, Dvořák and Ravel.

Under the baton of the American maestro, musical director of Les Arts, the musicians will play on May 6th, at 8:00 p.m., works by three composers separated in time, but all of them magnetized, at some point in their careers, by the influence of traditions and cultures from other worlds.

Joaquín Rodrigo explores the confines of the universe using a rich Ravelian orchestration in his inspired piece 'In Search of the Beyond', which the Sagunto native dedicated to NASA when he was commissioned to compose a piece for the bicentennial commemoration of the United States Declaration of Independence in 1976. A work that has neither a defined story nor descriptive content, but seeks to evoke in the listener the sense of mystery associated with the distant, the beyond.

Ravel, enamored with the story of 'Shéhérazade', created a work dedicated to her in which he opted for a journey to the Asian world through three passages of elegant orchestral color, guided by the mezzo-soprano voice that will be interpreted on this occasion by Anna Goryachova, who starred with great success in Rossini's 'La Cenerentola' in the last season at Les Arts.

The program closes with the famous 'New World Symphony', in which Dvořák, attracted by the African American and Indian rhythms he discovers during his stay in the United States, fuses these traditions with the melodies of his country's folklore.

Tickets for this concert can be purchased starting at 30 euros. Furthermore, thanks to the special rate offered by Les Arts to make opera, lieder, and symphonic music more accessible to young people under 29, they can purchase any ticket for 15 euros.

Just one day later, on Saturday, May 7, James Gaffigan and the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana will offer this same program at the Auditori de Castelló, as part of the program that Les Arts is developing in the capital of La Plana.

James Gaffigan arrives in Valencia after his successful debut at the Paris Opera with Massenet's 'Manon' and his return to the Metropolitan Opera in New York with Mozart's 'Le nozze di Figaro'.

The American conductor will also lead the Valencia premiere this month of 'Wozzeck' by Alban Berg, an essential work in the history of opera that has not yet been performed in the capital of Turia.
