The Arts are in our new musical and scenic languages with 'Zelle, wenn es dunkel wird'
- The Martín i Soler Theater premieres this chamber opera in which the composer Jamie Man reflects on human existence
- Les Arts participates in the ENSEMS Festival with this co-production, made with the support of ENOA, the European branch of opera academies
Valencia (09/14/22). The Palau de les Arts is presenting its new musical and scenic languages with the premiere of 'Zelle, wenn es dunkel wird', by the British-Xinese composer Jamie Man, at the Teatre Martín i Soler today, September 16, during the program of the 44th edition of the ENSEMS Festival.
Les Arts begins its second operatic activity with the most recent lyrical creation of this most innovative proposal, 'Zelle, wenn es dunkel wird', in which the artist poses poetry and music to serve the reflection of human existence, in an aesthetic exercise in which references to Masao Yamamoto's photography, cinema converge by David Lynch and the Japanese N?h theater.
Peter Stamm is the author of the book of this hour-long chamber opera, which includes the stage direction of the musician Jamie Man, for which he brings together a set of multidisciplinary performers: the countertenor Steve Katona, the N?h specialist Ryoko Aoki and the singer Olesya Zdorovetska ('throat singer').
The musical performance goes to Asko|Schönberg, with the participation of Wiek Hijmans (electric guitar), Joey Marijs (percussion) and Tatiana Rosa (electronic music). Ezra Veldhuis (lighting and set design), Fredrik Tjaerandsen (costumes and materials) and Tomas Serrien (dramaturgy) make up the muntatge's creative team.
'Zelle, wenn es dunkel wird' sorgeix argue that the acceptance of reality is full of contradictions. Inspired by the soft erotic magic of Masao Yamamoto's monochrome photography, the dark surrealism of David Lynch's 'L'habitació rojo' and the ancient ritual of the N?h theatre, 'Zelle' is a play of sees and discordances between the one who sat, the one who is seen, the one who awaits, the ephemeral and the eternal.
The focus is an invitation to look further into our oculocentric tendencies because it implies both the ears of our voice in the preverbal world, as each new element that is presented in front of our ulls acts in polyphony with the organic red line of the auditory universe.
Premiered in October 2021 at deSingel, Anvers, 'Zelle' is a co-production of the Palau de les Arts with LOD muziektheater, Theater und Musikgesellschaft Zug, deSingel, Asko Schönberg, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence and De Munt/ La Monnaie with the support of ENOA (European network of opera academies).
The Teatre Martín i Soler de Les Arts will host a single performance of 'Zelle' this weekend, September 16, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets have a single price of 20 euros.
Argument
It's winter. A donut is served alone in a hut in the upper part of the Muntanyes. She is suspicious of having died her seus fills. The lady is interrogated, but the questioner does not respond and this leads her to reflect on her own mental state. As the weather passes, the thicket becomes thicker and the clearing thins and each season it becomes more difficult to find out which one is most likely to be lost.
A ment dins of a cos dins of a room dins of a history dins of a ment dins of a cos dins of the món. One by one, the capes fall into a ritual of revelation between us in the darkness, in the light, in the light, following the transformative power of not clinging to the need to obtain answers to our questions.
