Melody Gardot, the queen of modern jazz, performs at Les Arts

• Next Saturday, November 26, Les Arts will host the jazz diva in a concert where she will perform a selection of her best songs
• Gardot will be accompanied by Brazilian pianist Philippe Powell, with whom she has worked on her latest album 'Entre eux deux' (2022)

Les Arts will host Melody Gardot, considered by music critics to be the 'queen of contemporary jazz', in concert next Saturday, November 26. The singer-songwriter from New Jersey will perform a selection of her best songs in the Auditori at 8:00 p.m.

The American singer will be accompanied by Brazilian pianist Philippe Powell, with whom the jazz diva has composed her first collaborative album, 'Entre eux deux', released on May 20th. They will also be joined by bassist Christopher Thomas and percussionist Jorge Bezzerra for this evening at Les Arts dedicated to jazz.

Behind her diva-like appearance and under her ever-present sunglasses, day or night, lies a story of overcoming adversity. Gardot, who had begun singing cover songs in small venues at the age of 16, was forced to put her career on hold as a result of a car accident that left her with brain injuries and memory loss.

Music therapy, of which she has become an ambassador, was key to her recovery, and, thanks to it, she was able to regain the ability to sing, prompting her to pursue her dream and write her own music.

The blending of different musical genres is part of Gardot's DNA. This fusion has marked her professional career from her first album, 'Worrisome Heart', in 2008, to the present day. The influences of rhythm and blues, funk, soul, and even Latin rhythms like bossa nova are clearly evident in her albums.

Tickets to enjoy live jazz by Melody Gardot, accompanied by pianist Philippe Powell, are now available on the Les Arts website www.lesarts.com , with prices ranging from 34 to 50 euros.

' The Arts are Other Music '

The Palau de les Arts opens its spaces and programming to new audiences with the 'Les Arts és Altres músiques' cycle, in which different musical genres such as jazz, fado or contemporary pop come together, with the leading stars of the moment.

The next artist to participate in the series is Grammy nominee Rufus Wainwright, who, on his world tour with 'Unfollow the rules', will arrive in Valencia on April 19 with a repertoire of classic pop-style songs.
