Valencia (14.12.2022). Les Arts invites the public to spend the morning of Sunday, December 18th in its Main Hall with a new edition of 'Matins a Les Arts', for the affordable price of 5 euros.

The singers from the Centre de Perfeccionament will offer a recital that day dedicated to French 'opéra-comique', in which the work of three Valencian composers from the 19th century will also be rediscovered: José Melchor Gomis, José Espí Ulrich and José Valero Peris.

Opéra-comique is an operatic genre that experienced its golden age in 1830s Paris and is characterized by its combination of spoken dialogue with sung arias. José Melchor Gomis, a native of Ontinyent, developed much of his career as a composer in the French capital and explored this type of opera in the first half of the 19th century.

The singers from the Centre will perform a selection of pieces from their works 'Le diable à Seville' and 'Le Revenant', as well as excerpts from other composers of the genre such as Boieldieu, Gounod, Offenbach, Berlioz, and Viardot. The program will also highlight the work of two other Valencian Romantic composers: José Espí Ulrich and José Valero Peris.

The 'Matins a Les Arts' cycle includes a varied program at a single price of 5 euros, which features, as performers, the different artistic assets of Les Arts: the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, the Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana and the singers of the Centre de Perfeccionament.

The next sessions of 'Matins a Les Arts' are on February 5, with a chamber concert by the OCV; on March 5, by the artists of the Centre de Perfeccionament; on April 2, with the Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana, and, finally, on May 7, with a concert performed by the professors of the OCV.
