Valencia (03/31/2023). Les Arts continues the series with the Sunday concerts of 'Matins a Les Arts' with a new installment starring the Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana, next April 2, at 12:00 p.m.
The group led by Francesc Perales dedicates this session of 'Matins a Les Arts' to the music of the 20th century, both works by British composers such as Benjamin Britten, Edward Elgar and Ralph Vaughan Williams, who developed a large part of their career in the first half of the century.
Jordi Blanch assumes the direction of the morning, which will begin with Britten's 'Missa Brevis', a liturgical composition for a choir and an accompaniment of the orchestra. Next, there is the famous 'Nimrod' from Elgar's Enigma Variations', a very important piece used in events of a solemn nature.
The concert will continue with Elgar's other song, 'Scenes from the Bavarian Highlands', which recalls his old vacations in southern Germany, and choral songs such as 'Like to the Damask Rose' and 'As Torrents in Summer'. To finish, the Cor de la Generalitat will address 'Early in the Spring' and 'Sound Sleep', by Vaughan Williams.
The 'Matins a Les Arts' series includes a varied program for a single price of 5 euros and includes, with performers, the different artistic acts of Les Arts: the Valencian Community Orchestra (OCV), the Valencian Generalitat Choir and the singers of the Center de Perfectionament.
Film music will be the main protagonist of the last session of 'Matins a Les Arts' this season. Next May 7, l'OCV will offer a concert in which it will perform iconic soundtracks from the art set.
