Valencia (May 24, 2023). Les Arts is bringing back the educational activity 'Tell Me an Opera' for another season, with which the Valencian theater stages a version adapted for children of Donizetti's opera 'L'elisir d'amore', which makes use of the figure of a storyteller.
'Tell me an opera' transports the little ones to the beginning of the 19th century, when a young Gaetano Donizetti and the librettist Felice Romani were in the middle of composing 'L'elisir d'amore', one of the most representative operas of Italian bel canto that would end up becoming one of his best-known works.
Felice Romani, played by Valencian actor Paco Iváñez, takes on the role of storyteller who dynamically narrates the creation process of 'L'elisir d'amore', while Donizetti, embodied by pianist José Alberto Sancho, performs the scores of the main moments of the work.
The characters of the work come to life before the narration of the storyteller and the music of the piano to offer the public the most famous passages of the opera, in the voice of the artists of the Centre de Perfeccionament: Pilar Garrido (Adina), Maximiliano Spósito (Nemorino), Marcelo Solís (Belcore) and Carlos Reynoso (Dulcamara).
This activity, which is part of the 'Les Arts és Educació' program, uses the accessibility of a genre like storytelling to convey the plot of an opera to young people, without overlooking its most remarkable musical and scenic moments.
'Tell Me About an Opera' is an educational and cultural experience that aims to familiarize children with the meaning of what an opera is, who the composer and librettist are, and how to understand the plot of an essential title in the history of opera.
In addition to the screenings dedicated to the educational community, there will be two sessions open to the general public on Saturday, May 27th and Sunday, May 28th, at 12:00 pm.
Tickets for the 'Tell Me an Opera' activity are now available on the Les Arts website for a price of 7 euros for children up to 12 years old, and 9 euros for the adult public.
