Les Arts inaugurates its flamenco cycle for the 2023-2024 Season with Vicente Amigo

The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía opens the fifth edition of its flamenco cycle in the Auditori on Friday, November 3, with one of the most emblematic figures of the guitar of all time, Vicente Amigo.

Accompanied by the flamenco singer Rafael de Utrera, Antonio Fernández 'Añil' on second guitar, Francisco González Agudo on percussion and Ewen Bernal on bass, Amigo presents an essential show for lovers of the genre, in which, in addition to reviewing his latest works, he also promises surprises to the public in a proposal that goes from the popular and Andalusian towards the universal.

A performance in which he will showcase his virtuosity with a repertoire that includes flamenco guitar classics such as 'Memoria de los sentidos', 'Paseo de Gracia', 'Un momento en el sonido', 'Tierra'... compositions, melodies, that are born from a very personal inner world and that are a constant attempt to understand himself, but also an embrace towards others, a way of communicating through feeling and beauty.

Medal of Fine Arts and winner of two Grammy Awards, among other distinctions, Vicente Amigo is considered a true genius of the instrument as well as one of the artists who has contributed the most to the evolution and dissemination of the genre throughout the world.

 'Les Arts és Flamenco' has already established itself as one of the essential series in the program. With the aim of offering the broadest possible view of the genre, the musical offerings of the 2023-2024 Season will bring together legendary figures alongside emerging talents.

Following Vicente Amigo's concert at the Auditori, the Teatre Martín i Soler will host performances in 2024 by Kiki Morente (February 16), the duo of Vicente Soto 'Sordera' and Lela Soto (March 23), María Toledo (April 20) and José de la Tomasa (May 31).
