Valencia (23.6.26). The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía will premiere this coming Thursday, June 25, in the Main Hall, Carmina Burana , the spectacular scenic cantata by Carl Orff, which will bring together the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana and the Cor de la Generalitat with the Ballett Dortmund in the performance of the acclaimed choreography with which Edward Clug has triumphed on the main stages.
Les Arts thus closes its twentieth season with one of the masterpieces of the 20th century, still unpublished in the programming of the Calatrava building, which the OCV will debut under the baton of the young director Olivia Lee-Gundermann, whose presentation in Spain with Nixon in China at the Teatro Real caused a sensation among the specialized press.
Nearly a hundred years after its premiere, Carmina Burana has lost none of its power to fascinate. The overflowing energy it radiates, its hypnotic rhythmic force, and the universality of its themes continue to captivate and fill theaters and concert halls around the world.
A total of 175 artists, including musicians, singers and dancers, will come together at Les Arts from June 25 to 28 to perform one of the most celebrated interpretations of Carl Orff's work, Edward Clug's stunning choreography for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, which, after its premiere in 2019, has been joined by the most innovative companies on the circuit.
In his proposal, Clug follows the structure of Orff's composition, based on the concept of the circle: the Wheel of Fortune, which embodies the eternal cycle of life and death. On stage, an immense ring acts as the core of attraction and repulsion for the dancers in the construction of a highly refined choreographic language, which imbues geometry with a poetic dimension.
Les Arts reminds you that tickets for Carmina Burana are available through the theater's various sales channels: box office, telephone sales line 96 197 59 00 and the official Les Arts website.
