Valencia (29.4.26). The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía dedicates the third session of its cycle Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga to Alessandro Scarlatti with the help of the Il Fervore ensemble and the soprano Jone Martínez who, with the program Gioie e diletti , They pay tribute to this essential composer in the development of Baroque opera and cantata, this Thursday, April 30, at the Teatre Martín i Soler.
Under the direction of violinist Jesús Merino, the young group —founded in 2021 and specializing in historicist interpretation— proposes a journey through the musical life of Baroque Naples, the city in which Scarlatti developed much of his career, accompanied by Jone Martínez, one of the most outstanding emerging voices in the early music scene in Europe.
The evening includes a selection of arias from the opera Tiberio, imperatore d'Oriente and the serenade Clori, Dorino e Amore , premiered in 1702 to mark the arrival of a young Philip V in the Neapolitan viceroyalty. Il Fervore revives a selection of pieces performed then before the monarch, to evoke the atmosphere that surrounded his stay in the city, which also featured the presence of Arcangelo Corelli, one of the most celebrated musicians of his time.
Therefore, the program, which also includes instrumental pieces such as Scarlatti's Concerti grossi Nos. 1 and 3 , is completed with a recreation of the famous theme from La Follia, which unites the Scarlatti tradition with Arcangelo Corelli's sonata, highlighting the links between the two composers.
Mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïcik will close the Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga series with Les Épopées on May 28 at the Teatre Martín i Soler. Les Arts reminds the public that tickets for the concerts and recitals in this series are available through the theater's various sales channels: box office, telephone sales line 96 197 59 00, and the official Les Arts website.
