Ensems
48th ENSEMS International Festival of Contemporary Music
17–27 September 2026
Ensems, Spain's longest-running contemporary music festival, has unveiled the programme for its 48th edition, which will take place from 17 to 27 September. The festival will feature several concerts and parallel activities across a range of venues in Valencia.
Once again, Ensems is supported by Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and Palau de la Música, which this year will host the majority of the festival's concerts. Additional events will take place at other venues across the city, including two concerts at Centre del Carme, as well as activities at the Museu de Belles Arts and the Universitat Politècnica de València. The programme also includes a concert at CentroCentro in Madrid.
For this edition, Ensems proposes a conceptual shift that directly addresses the conditions of listening in the present day. In response to the growing dominance of digital platforms and models of instant consumption, the festival offers a critical reflection on the gradual transformation of music into an object of rapid consumption. The programme for the 48th edition is conceived as an act of aesthetic resistance. Through concerts with a distinctly minimalist character, the festival reclaims listening as an active and conscious practice.
