A bel canto tenor, stage director and tireless creator, Madrid-born Enrique Viana has succeeded in reviving the zarzuela genre with his shows and performances, which fuse music, good humour and contemporary themes in a light-hearted tone that connects directly with the audience. In this spirit of promoting and revitalising the Spanish lyrical genre, Viana has devised the show “Un misterio de sainete o zarzuela a la cazuela”, starring artists from the Centre de Perfeccionament, which brings together various romances and scenes from zarzuela by the Valencian composer José Serrano with additions typical of the dramaturgy of a show conceived from the perspective of humour and respect, without the zarzuela losing any of its essence.A new production from Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía
