The Sala Principal, which has a capacity of 1.412 spectators, is conceived as the venue for opera, ballet and other scenic arts. The main floor seats are ringed by 4 balconies of open boxes. The seats are provided with a text screens making it possible to follow the opera in several languages. The orchestra pit may be raised or lowered in order to maximize the acoustics according to the work being performed in the hall.

The stage has the most advanced operational systems with lateral and backstage spaces large enough to hold the sets for two operas at the same time. It has a total surface area of 460 square metres The main stage is some 17 meters across with a depth of 20 metres and a height of 36 metres.
The orchestra pit measures 166 square metres, which makes it the second largest in the world after the Bastille in Paris and equal to that of the Teatro Real in Madrid. |
