Young Romeo and Juliet are in love. He belongs to the Montague family and she belongs to the Capulets, both of which have been enemies for some time. They decide to marry in secret with the help of Friar Laurence. But their happiness does not last for long: Romeo is exiled from Verona after killing Tybalt (a Capulet) and Juliet’s parents (who know nothing about her secret wedding with Romeo) agree to marry her to a count. The friar intervenes and persuades the young girl to take a potion that will make her sleep so deeply that people will think she is dead. When she awakes, Romeo will come for her and take her to Mantua. But the message does not reach her sweetheart on time. Romeo, beside his beloved Juliet’s tomb, decides to drink poison and falls down dead by her side. When Juliet wakes and sees what has happened, she takes Romeo’s dagger and stabs herself. A short time later, Friar Laurence explains what has happened to the rival families and they are reconciled.
