The Italian composer, Gian Carlo Menotti would have been one hundred years old on July 7th 2011. To celebrate this centenary, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and its Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo is offering a double programme made up by The Telephone and Amelia al ballo, with mise-en-scène by Jean-Louis Grinda and conducted by Plácido Domingo.
With his presence on the stage before the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana and the singers of the Centre de Perfeccionament, which bears his name, the tenor and conductor of the orchestra, Madrid born Plácido Domingo also joins this homage to the musician who composed the opera Goya specifically for him, which Domingo premiered at The Washington Opera in 1986, it being a success.
